A Witch's Destiny (Web Of Dreams Book 1) Page 6

THE NEXT DAY, IN THE airport. Aidan picked up his cell to receive a call.

  “Hey, how is it going?”

“Just arrived at the airport to discover that my flight had been shifted an hour further-” he waited for the reply from the other end of the call.

“I have told you, all is going to be well.” He assured the caller.

“We have no choice. She can’t protect us and herself-” the caller had interrupted him again.

“Leave the witch hunters to me-” He paused, before he continued

“We will fix this together, I promise. I love you”

He placed the phone in his pocket. Aiden found somewhere to hang around before it was time for his flight. Sometimes boarding a plane could be a very traumatic and dramatic event.

Especially when his mind wasn’t settled. While he was in the plane, it sat idle on the tarmac while the flight attendants strolled lackadaisically, so casually up and down the aisle. They were putting the bags in the overhead compartments to make sure everything fit.

The pilots-leaning out of the cockpit, chatting with them as they passed, slowing down the process. This country is full of lazy people, are these going to fly? Aiden felt a hand on his shoulder, holding him to his seat.

  “Hey there!”

Aiden turned to get the shock of his life. It was Manu the grocery operator from his local store in the city.

“Hello, Manu. How you doing?” He tried sounding casual to hide his surprise.

“It’s so nice to meet you here Aiden,” the grocery operator said.

  “Yeah, definitely”

“You didn’t tell me you leaving,”

“I miss my family,” Aiden responded.

“I know how that feels, I visit my granny twice a month.”

“That’s really nice. Family is what we got,”

“Are you going on a vacation?” Aiden asked.

“Nah, but you could call it that. Vacation with my family,”

  “That’s really nice,”

Aiden’s body was unsettled, he didn’t know why. He just couldn’t name a thing which must have caused that. At last the plane rolled lazily from the gate, it started to build speed with a gradual steadiness which was almost like a torture to him.

He loved planes when they were in the air, not landing and taking off. Aiden lifted the phone in the back of the seat which was up front. He wanted to make a call but he hesitated besides the stewardess eyes were already giving him-a sign of disapproval. But his expression stopped the stewardess from coming over to him to protest.

Maybe he was so handsome and she was admiring his beauty. A powerful contrast to hers. He heaved a sigh of relief and closed his eyes. He tried creating a soothing utopia in his mind where he could teleport his soul for some time. Although he wasn’t a wizard, he had some tricks up his sleeves and having a witch as a wife only made him exposed to some supernatural things and also made him into a supernatural bounty hunter. He was able to cheat nature for his selfish reasons just like his wife, vamps and other mythical humans. The thing about his utopia was that good memories relived itself once again. His mind would be able to feel what he had felt then.

Then he travelled to the past, when he was seven.

Young Aiden was coming home from school, his bag on his shoulders. For some reason, he never made use of the school bus. Walking briskly, he saw a young girl, she was making a left turn when he noticed a bus swerving.

The driver had lost control of the wheel and was doing nothing but make issues worst. A naughty girl of four years old, he started running towards her ball which she had let slip out of her hands, and was rolling lazily towards the road. It hit young Aiden that he needed to do something quick. Spontaneously, he found himself running towards the child, while the bus tried to stop. It unleashed a screeching sound from its tires against the asphalt. He was so fast, he didn’t know how he got there. He just got there. He picked the child with his right hand and dived to the other side of the road. The child was safe, but he sustained a mild scratch. The driver got down immediately after that contact. Passer’s by and concerned citizens crowded both of them. The mother of the child ran towards them and took the child in her arms. She smiled at Aiden, gave him a hug and did give him a bar of chocolate which was meant for her daughter. Aiden was lucky no-one witnessed the process it was beyond normalcy. He had super speed. Faster than any vampire or Lycan. Aiden grew up to realize that his descendants were Lycans but for some reason his Great grandfather stopped the lineage in his generation by using a witch to rid him of the lycan gene and then killing himself. Somehow, fate had given a blessing not a curse. He thought he ended it. But that wasn’t possible. Then his soul drifted again to two decades ago, when he met Amy. And became exposed to the world of the supernatural. His gift became very useful and he became a formidable force in the business of bounty hunting. He also remembered how his wife had moved from crude magic to something exceptional. Harnessing her inborn magic.

The Boeing 773ER touched down in the Airport at about four pm in the evening, right above, one could see that the airport had parallel runways, the terminal of this airport was large enough to be used as a stadium, two highways were connected to the terminal, vehicles-moving to and fro. Aiden’s consciousness had returned, and touching down had been horrible.

  Chapter 9

Definitely Kane was dreaming. This time it was just what he wanted. He was with her, for the first time. He wanted her so badly that he felt the physical ache present in his bones, breaking him down step by step. But he never touched Divina’s lips, he still held his tongue. He wanted to take that slippery, melting sex into his mouth and drink his fill. His look was ravenous, the mouthwatering flavor of the bare body threatened to short-circuit his brain.

And somehow Kane found the energy to keep his jeans on, no matter how many times Divina begged him for more. Then he was getting closer to losing control of himself when she became too sore for the touch of his swift fingers. Quickly, he rolled to his back, lifted her astride him, grabbed her hips and gave her access to grind herself completely against the thick, jutting ridge of his cock.

“Shh. Just let me hold you now,” he murmured afterward, Kane’s arms wrapped around her in a very unusually possessive hold while he pulled her down to his chest. Divina’s cheek was resting above the heavy beat of his heart, her long hair streaming over his perfect shoulder and arm. Divina’s body was deliciously soft against his. Kane’s head was filled of her warm scent. It gave him an unfamiliar sense of satisfaction and peace. Even though the animal hunger was still twisting and burning underneath his skin, he remained calm. Kane was in another world of hurt, but he was enjoying it because he didn’t want to move. He didn’t want to leave her and she didn’t want to leave him too. Kane enjoyed having Divina’s curvaceous little body all wrapped up in his arms. It made him sweat, but he was comfortable with it. Soft, sweet and warm. He had to relax, although at any time he could dig his fang into the side of her neck and he would be done with her within seconds, but he loved her. His eyes were growing heavy and the tension vamoosing from his muscles was in a slow, mellow side. It was easy. It was right. It was fun. And for the very first time. Kane surrendered to the moment. He slipped into the soothing darkness of sleep with a mortal.

Then his mind drifted to another thing good. He was with her again, his breathing turned ragged as he let go of her gentle arm and lifted his own to her face. Then he began rubbing the corner of her mouth voraciously with his tongue, while he simultaneously stroked the pad across her lush lower lip. He couldn’t wait any longer, so Kane had to press her down. Taking possession of her body, her lips, her hips, like he owned her.

It was so strange, an opium must be at work. Had he not tasted her mouth, this wouldn’t be happening. Her lips unbelievably sweet, hard to resist and now he was done for. Then Divina’s grip was just as desperate as his while he sank his fingers into her hair. The other caressed her body boldly, sending spasms of electri
c jolt over her hip and side. Divina was wild in his passion, and he could feel it. It was now her turn, her tongue was rubbing against his, tasting his hungry sexy licks and lips which made him feel crazed.

Her kiss was raw, hard and smacked with erotic viciousness with longings that where undeniable. Desperate for her feel, Kane cupped her firm breast, her nipple was enchantingly hard against his palm, thick with lust. Pulling his head backwards, breaths of satisfaction and comfort jerked roughly from his lips. He watched as she tore her shirt open and unhooked her bra disclosing the pale, sexy slopes of her breasts. They were berry-red nipples furrowed sweet and tight. Without wasting any time, he lowered his head over her, a deep, gravelly animal sound of satisfaction and pleasure rumbling from his chest as he took her into his mouth, sucking and licking like he was going to go mad if he didn’t. And just as he was about to go deeper, streams of cold blood began dripping down her neck. She was dead. His werewolf instincts were awakened and he saw himself a nefarious wolf soaked in her blood. Kane Jerked suddenly from his dream.

“Bad dream?” Byrd remarked. Kane was still recovering from the initial shock.

“Do you know how easy it was getting into your head? You really need blood not a girlfriend-”

“That’s none of your business,” he said passively putting his shirt on.

“It becomes my business when there is a threat to blow our cover,”

“I don’t need to get you to understand, you got the best body among us but you never love,”

Byrd was furious. Kane had hit him below the belt.

“Your lover is not who you think she is,”

“Yeah, she is a witch from the pits of hell like you told me about Chelsea,” Kane shock his head. Byrd always said the same old.

“This is different, am telling you. That dream is what would happen if both of you become close,”

“Cut that crap. You were in my dream, that’s all,”

Byrd was now tongue tied. Nu8othing he could say would convince him.

“They are witches, I heard the mother speak. They know who we are,”

“That’s all to my favor, we don’t need to have any secrets between us,”

“It all comes down to death, you know that, the vampires had us cursed, we crave blood as much as they do,”

In an instant, Kane had Byrd pinned to the wall with his left hand. Even with Byrd’s Macho-man physique, he was powerless. Kane was hurting him, but he couldn’t kill. If he could, it wouldn’t be his young nephew.

“You don’t know why am here, do you?” he whispered, his voice low and deadly. Byrd nodded his head sheepishly.

“I need a life, am tired of this-”

“The world doesn’t need you, that’s your life” Another voice from behind responded.

VANIR WOULD GO TO ANY lengths to protect his daughter’s the last part of him which was human, could still feel and hated it. He wanted to be dead inside and feel nothing.

He could only get to the witches through the vamps. He had visited the lycan some days ago, but he couldn’t get anything but the beating of his life. Now it was the words of the vamp head against his, was it? A blackmail, a threat. But he knew Blackclaw too well. One of his daughters would be gone by the end of the day. The thought of losing them made his heart bleed. He needed to face him again, beat it out of him. Kill his girlfriend, wife or anyone, anything, everything. All he needed was to get what he wanted and they would be safe. Racing like hell on the cold asphalt he thought of feeding before he reached his final destination.

In preparation for his do or die battle, he needed to feed. In a black sedan, he could see a family of four by his left.

His canines went into action, in minutes, lifeless bodies laid at the edge of the road, blood stains covered the car doors and pools of blood soiled the highway. Soon news would have it that an animal had attacked the family. That was true, Vanir was no human. He found his way to the same house, determined to get what he wanted. All was at peace when he walked in. The house was dead silent, but he could smell someone. Vanir walked slowly, making sure that beneath his feet, the creaking sound of the wooden floor was avoided. He made his way to the second hallway, he hadn’t seen anyone, but he was damn sure someone was there. It wasn’t Kane-He could never forget his smell, like cold death in the midnight’s dew. This particular one wrecked of human blood. Finally the owner of that strange smell emerged from behind and drove him into the ground. Vanir had anticipated that move, but he just allowed it to happen. He stood up and faced the bastard.

“Just tell me where the witches are?” Vanir hoped that he could reason with him. He was desperate.

“There are no witches in this territory and you shouldn’t be here,” Byrd responded.

“We don’t have to do this. I just need to know who they are, where they are,”

“Go, fuck yourself,” Byrd said in a deadly tone.

Vanir approached him, remorseless and ready to strike. He knew that Byrd must have supernatural strength, so he closed his eyes, stiffed his body until danger and death radiated from him. Byrd ran towards him, hoping to get him off balance. Vanir parried and in less than a microsecond, he had Byrd by the throat and threw him against the stone wall. Byrd’s shoulder and right arm bones were crushed that instant. A moment of exquisite excruciating prevailed over his body.

From his jacket, he brought out the mortality oil, in a very small jar. Byrd knew he was long gone, if a drop of that touched his skin. Byrd tried fighting as hard as he could, but his battered arm was a riot of pain and his strength unparalleled to that of Vanir.

Instead of trying to free his throat instinctively or clawing at his hands as they locked round his neck, Byrd shot his thumbs into his eyes. Though the pain in his arm blazed, he used all his strength to push his eyes backwards into his head. He let go of him and wailed, blood was pouring down his face. Byrd ran clear of him, trying hard to gasp in a lot of air as possible. Vanir just needed a minute to heal, but by that time Byrd had been long gone.

  Shit, not again

Fury swept through his erratic veins like a blistering flame. Vanir wasn’t giving up, he girded his loins and sprinted towards the direction he saw Byrd going. But before running off, he left a message on the wall with his blood

  Reliz d witch

  Or die if u wish

He wasn’t really good at sounding poetical or menacing, but this was his best shot.

Then he headed to the woods smelling and tracing footprints. He travelled north, it was now confusing. He could smell human, real human. Nothing like a hybrid or half-blood like Byrd. Not this time, he didn’t want to kill anymore. Innocent souls had been lost because he wanted to feed. He halted to get the exact spot she stood. He turned left sharply and met Divina’s eyes.

Should he scare her? Or Kill her?

He went for the other option. Exposed his vicious fang and showcased his sinister glittering grey eyes. Divina, fainted immediately. Vanir was distracted by the sharp smell of Byrd. He had to get him now. Quickly, he raced towards the direction, just to find Byrd’s shirt on the forest floor.

He wasn’t as dumb as he thought.

Vanir walked further again, following his sharp sense of smell and came across his shoes. Next was his trousers. He squeezed his fist in fury. Then he found his cell and dialed a number.

“When are you going to be in town?” he asked trying hard to keep his rage out of his voice.

  “Very soon, maybe tomorrow,”

“I need you here Aiden,” Vanir sounded dire and broken.

“We will work this out together, I promise you that-”

“I have no time, they got my kids and one will be dead within twelve hours,” he raised his voice at twelve hours. Surly Aiden understood the importance of family?

Aiden kept mute, a good response was far from his reach.

“Keep calm, they wouldn’t kill her. It’s just a threat-”

“An empty threat from Blakclaw?” Vanir wasn’t convinced
and had to hold in a few not so nice words that would surly lose him the help of Aiden.

“Am a bounty hunter, not superman and I-”

Vanir hanged up. He was getting no help from anyone. He thought of leaving the lycan territory, but he didn’t care. He would get the witch and take her to the vamps as soon as possible. He raced west, following the smell as before.

  Chapter 10

Divina woke up to see her mother and father staring at her with heavy smiles on their faces. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” They chorused.

First, Divina was happy to see her father. This was the first time she had seen him in two years. But what had happened yesterday? She could have sworn she saw a man turn into a half a wolf. His face had grown facial hair until only his eyes could be seen, yellow eyes. Then he opened his mouth to expose a set of sharp animal teeth.

“Thanks Mom, thanks Dad.” she smiled and shared a hug with them both.

“Quickly, you need to clean up. We have a big day ahead full of surprises,” Amy gushed with excitement.

She got out of bed, made her way to the bathroom, and while she pulled off her clothes, a loud scream reverberated within the four walls of the house-a banshee’s cry. So loud that it made Amy and Aiden race to her room like it was on fire.

When both parents got in, Amy knew it was coming from the bathroom. While Aiden maintained his position, a few meters, not too far from the door. Watching Amy go into the bathroom only increased his curiosity.

Was it girls stuff? Menstrual cramps?

Divina was like him a tough nugget. This was more than that.

Amy walked out looking like she had seen a ghost but remained at the bathroom entrance. She gave her husband a fretting look. Aiden got her message. They had some explanations to make. He left the room to the basement to get a book, stricken with age-having hoary edges and ancient hieroglyphics. Getting the book had taken him time, and he was sure they would be ready by then.
